BBVA Compass is making the limited-time offers — among them special loan and payment deferral programs, waived late fees and penalty-free CD withdrawals — available to consumer and small business clients in the 58 counties declared as a state of disaster by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. For the time being, it also is waiving all ATM fees in those areas: Its own customers will pay no fees to BBVA Compass if they use non-BBVA Compass ATMs, and non-customers will be able to use BBVA Compass ATMs at no charge from BBVA Compass.

BBVA Compass gives McAllen ISD students lesson in financial literacy, with assist from basketball legends Bob Lanier, Allison Feaster

MCALLEN, Texas, April 11, 2017 -- BBVA Compass enlisted NBA Legend Bob Lanier and WNBA Legend Allison Feaster to tip off a WNBA Cares event last week to inspire and teach financial literacy to local students at McAllen ISD's Victor Fields Elementary School.
Lanier, a Hall of Fame center, and Feaster, who spent 10 seasons in the WNBA, joined BBVA Compass volunteers on April 6 in visits to classrooms and computer labs at Fields. They talked to students about the importance of financial literacy and how it can create opportunities for a bright future. BBVA Compass later donated 33 iPads and an iPad charging cart to the school as a way to advance the students' learning experiences.

BBVA Compass achieves gold status for workplace health from the American Heart Association

More than 800 companies completed the Index assessment this year, but only 540 received either Gold, Silver or Bronze recognition. An index score of 86 was needed to achieve Bronze and a score of 130 was needed to achieve Silver. To achieve Gold, an organization's health program needed to earn an Index score of at least 175 out of 217 points. BBVA Compass and 74 other companies reached Gold level, the association's top recognition. While the average score for financial services companies was 83, BBVA Compass achieved 185 points.
The American Heart Association created its Index with its CEO Roundtable members, a leadership collaborative of more than 30 CEOs from some of America's largest companies who are committed to applying evidence-based approaches to employee and workplace health. The Index's scorecard uses science-based methods to evaluate the overall effectiveness of workplace health programs.
